A new production of the opera The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, featuring international soloists, will be performed at the Sofia Opera and Ballet House six times on March 14,15,16,17,29 and 30, the institution said on Tuesday. The libretto is by Emanuel Schikaneder. The director is Vera Petrova.

The Magic Flute remains as enchanting as ever, for professionals and audiences alike. The characters come from the world of fairytales, the production crew says.

Svetoslav Borisov is the conductor of the production, Alexandra Lubchansky is the conductor, the set design is by Molly O'Cathain, the costume designer is Marta Mironska, the lighting is by Simon Bennison, and the choir conductor is Violeta Dimitrova.

The Magic Flute was first performed in Sofia in 1931 under the baton of German maestro Hermann Stange. It was directed by Hristo Popov.
