Bulgaria is Vietnam’s first strategic partner in the Balkans, said the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, during a meeting with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov at the Council of Ministers on Friday.
To Lam emphasized the importance of upgrading the relations between the two countries to the level of a strategic partnership and noted that this is an important historical stage that will give a strong boost to the partnership between Bulgaria and Vietnam. He also recalled that Bulgaria was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.
The upcoming membership in the Eurozone confirms Bulgaria’s deep integration and growing position in the region, added the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam is on an official visit to Bulgaria at Radev's invitation on Thursday and Friday. The visit is and is taking place in the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and of Vietnam and is part of a European tour by the Vietnamese leader.
