MRF - New Beginning has sent a letter to Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, calling for urgent measures - in coordination with the President’s administration - to provide funding for official vehicles for the staff of the President's Office. The party’s press office announced Monday the move following recent legal changes barring access to National Service for Protection (NSP) vehicles for the members of the President's staff.
The changes were pushed through by the very same party, MRF - New Beginning.
MRF – New Beginning emphasized in their press release that "the institution - not the individual president - must be equipped to operate with full capacity and authority, as expected in a European democracy".
The party criticized President Rumen Radev’s decision to use his personal car - as an act of solidarity - whenever he travels accompanied by members of his administration. According to New Beginning, it is “a PR stunt” that creates logistical strain on NSP and Interior Ministry staff and undermines the presidency’s credibility.
MRF - New Beginning urged the government to allocate funds through a Cabinet decree to ensure the presidential administration is provided with the transport resources available to all state institutions.
President Radev had earlier informed the NSP that, starting October 20, he would use his private vehicle in cases where presidential staff must use their own cars for official duties.
