Counterfeit euro banknotes were found in a 37-year-old resident of Batanovtsi (Pernik Municipality) during a specialized police operation, the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Pernik said on Monday.
The police officers seized four 20-euro banknotes and one 100-euro banknote from the man, which turned out to be counterfeit. During the course of the procedural and investigative actions, the man's home was also searched. There, the police seized an electronic money counting device and about BGN 9,000 in various denominations.
The police specified for BTA that experts have been appointed to establish the authenticity of the seized currency. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case as well.
