National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova told the media on Saturday she expected stability to be restored next week. She was apparently referring to Parliament's failure to hold regular sittings for three consecutive days due to a lack of quorum.

Parliament failed to muster a quorum after GERB leader Boyko Borissov told the GERB-UDF parliamentary group and Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov on October 14 that his party would no longer help ensure a quorum.

Asked to comment on her possible replacement following Borissov's statement that she is constantly seeking the spotlight, Kiselova said that stability, both in Parliament and in the government, is the responsibility of GERB-UDF, the largest parliamentary group, but also of those who have committed to participating jointly in governance. She added that the leaders of the parliamentary groups are expected to sit down at the negotiating table soon.

Kiselova also noted that discussions have been held within the parliamentary group of BSP-United Left, which nominated her to the post. "I expect the collective bodies of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), as well as of the BSP-United Left, to make a decision next week, after we hear what GERB-UDF expects," she commented.

Kiselova took part, alongside President Rumen Radev and Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov, in a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial plaque for fallen paratroopers in Sofia on Saturday. Bulgaria marks Paratrooper Day on October 18.
