site.btaState of Emergency Extended in Flood-Hit Elenite Resort

The state of emergency in the area of the seaside resort of Elenite has been extended for another seven days, the Burgas Regional Administration told BTA on Friday. In the other populated areas within the municipality of Nessebar, the state of emergency has been lifted. In Elenite, there remain multiple flooded buildings, accumulations of earth and debris, uprooted vegetation, and damaged technical infrastructure.
The Burgas Regional Administration also told BTA that follow-up control tests of drinking water quality taken in the flood-affected areas of Burgas Region show good results everywhere except in Elenite, Sveti Vlas and Kiten.
According to data provided by the Regional Health Inspectorate in Burgas, the water in the resort of Elenite, Sveti Vlas and Kiten continues to show deteriorated quality indicators. Analyses confirm that in these locations, the water does not meet the standards for drinking purposes.
The recommendation not to use the water for drinking remains in effect until new tests show acceptable results. The restriction on using the water for drinking purposes continues to apply in all areas where deviations persist.
