President Rumen Radev said on Tuesday that it is too early to talk about presidential elections. Speaking to journalists in Sozopol, the head of State responded to a question about whether he was preparing a campaign for a new presidential term in office. "It is too early to talk about presidential elections. There are so many other things to be decided in the country. Of course, these are important elections, but as [Vice President Iliana] Iotova said - when the time comes," the President commented.
Regarding the procedure for agreeing on a new secretary general of the Interior Ministry, the President said: “I think it should be completed this month.”
In early July, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov told MPs in the National Assembly that the Minister of the Interior had sent a letter of agreement to the President regarding the appointment of a secretary general of the Interior Ministry and that his decision was awaited. The name of the new secretary general will be announced when the President signs the decree, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov told reporters in Elhovo on July 4. Currently, Interior Ministry's Deputy Secretary General, Miroslav Rashkov, is performing the duties of an acting Secretary General. “We are working wonderfully and the Ministry is working actively under his professional leadership,” Mitov added.
The President attended the sinking of the fishing vessel “Chavdar,” built in 1964, to the sea floor off the coast of Sozopol as part of an initiative by writer Mihail Zaimov and his associates.
