A concert in protest against the territorial reduction of the Blue Stones Nature Park will be held on August 5 in Sliven, said the organizers from the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation and For the Blue Stones with Love.

The event follows a decision of the Sliven Municipal Council, according to which nearly 80 hectares of the nature park are designated as territories for settlement formations. The event will be held 23 years after the expansion of the park's territory with the Karandila and Daulite areas, which are now endangered by falling out of the protected area and urbanization, the organizers pointed out.

"The development of tourism must be sustainable, with a long-term vision that puts the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity in the first place," the organizers emphasized, stressing that any circumvention of environmental legislation by fragmenting protected areas undermines the foundations of nature conservation.

The concert programme includes the bands Review and WAF, actress Iveta Stoyanova and poet Hristo Batinkov.
