Smart wearable devices for remote monitoring of vital health indicators will be given to elderly people living alone and people with disabilities in Smolyan, Southern Bulgaria, representative of the press service of the local municipal administration Violeta Filipova told BTA on Friday.
The delivery of remote care devices is part of an EU-funded project focused on health and social service innovation, in which the Municipality of Smolyan participates.
The electronic wristbands will monitor pulse, blood pressure, and cardiac arrhythmia symptoms. The wristbands will activate an alarm in case of risk, and the alerts will be sent to a designated contact, such as a relative, the patient's general practitioner, or a social worker.
A total of 9 bracelets will be provided to the Municipality of Smolyan under the project. The selection of people for whom the new social service will be provided will be carried out from among the users who are included in the first stage of the project, the municipal administration added. Individuals diagnosed with conditions that can be monitored using the indicators provided by the wristbands will be selected.
