site.btaParliament Chair Kiselova: Election of Ombudsman, Update to State Budget Signify Ambition for Full Term

The election of an ombudsman and the update to the state budget in connection with municipal projects are a sign that the incumbents mean to stay in office for their full term. This opinion was shared by Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova in Razgrad, where she was an official guest at the Yoghurt Fair and the Festival of Folk Traditions and Arts and Crafts.
“My expectations are that there will be efforts - the various parliamentary groups that do not support the government will seek consolidation so that their blows can be more concentrated, because you can see that at the moment everyone is helping everyone, but there are discussions among them about which parliamentary group is the authentic opposition, which is the bigger opposition. In my opinion, this discussion takes up a lot of time, instead of focusing on the problems of Bulgarian citizens and municipalities,” Kiselova said.
“I think it is clear that the BSP-United Left is against early elections, and for this reason we voted for a national ombudsman. One of the first things we did after being sworn in as MPs in November was to challenge the so-called list of potential candidates for prime minister in a caretaker government, because we believe that imposing additional conditions on certain positions is not in the interest of the normal functioning of the Court of Auditors, the bank, the ombudsman, and the National Assembly,” Nataliya Kiselova added.
