site.btaBulgarian, Armenian Foreign Ministries Hold Political Consultations in Sofia


Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Armenia were held in Sofia on July 15, 2025, the Foreign Ministry's press office said on Tuesday. On the Bulgarian side, the consultations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova, and on the Armenian side by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.
During the consultations, a comprehensive review of bilateral relations was made, with an emphasis on identifying areas for expanding and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. The issues of connectivity - transport, energy, digital, as well as the achievement of peace, security and stability in the wider Black Sea region were highlighted. Regarding the deepening of trade and economic cooperation, satisfaction was expressed with the forthcoming holding in Sofia of the ninth meeting of the Bulgarian-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation on July 16-18. The Bulgarian delegates expressed support and said they were ready to share experience and expertise in the process of Armenia's rapprochement with the EU.
The two sides also exchanged views on topical issues on the regional and global agenda, including security in the Black Sea region in the context of the ongoing Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, the issue of EU enlargement and others, the statement said.
