Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov will visit the port of Burgas on Tuesday, where the second shipment of pipes for the construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor is expected to arrive, the Energy Ministry said.

The transmission capacity at Bulgaria’s borders with Greece and Romania is being expanded to support the implementation of this strategic project, the Ministry added.

The first shipment of pipes - 4,000 units transported from India via the Red Sea - was delivered to Burgas in late March 2025.

The Vertical Gas Corridor is a joint initiative of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova and Slovakia. Its aim is to improve security and ensure diversification of gas sources and routes.
