President Rumen Radev discussed opportunities to deepen the partnership between Bulgaria and Turkiye in the fields of transport, energy, digital connectivity, and defence during a meeting today at the presidential institution with the leadership of the company Pasifik Teknoloji. Representatives from the Ministry of Defence also participated. The President emphasized that Turkiye is an important neighbour, partner and ally of Bulgaria, and in recent years there has been increasing dynamism in bilateral economic and trade exchange, as well as in various other areas, the President’s Press Secretariat reported on Friday.

Radev stated that the EU strategy for the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, also known as the Middle Corridor, and the planned EUR 12 billion in investments reveal prospects for much more active cooperation in developing supply chains to Europe. For this purpose, much more active communication is needed between business representatives from Bulgaria and Turkiye to realize projects of mutual interest. Bulgaria is also interested in enhanced partnership with leading technology companies in the modernization of its Armed Forces, including industrial cooperation and technology transfer, Radev said.

Representatives of Pasifik Teknoloji pointed out the importance of developing the Middle Corridor for the transport of goods and energy resources to Europe, of which Bulgaria and Turkiye are part, creating conditions for pooling efforts to develop regional connectivity. The company is part of a holding engaged in various sectors such as transport, logistics, construction, technology, energy and the production of modern defence equipment. Member companies of the Pasifik Holding group are already participating in the development of railway connections within the Middle Corridor and have shown interest in partnering with Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) as well as the ports of Varna and Burgas.
