Ever since Bulgaria became full Schengen member, the traveller flow has increased, and this is one of our biggest achievements in the past decades, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner told journalists at the Kulata–Promachonas border crossing point between Bulgarian and Greece on Monday.

Brunner is on a visit in Bulgaria to hold meetings with the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior and discuss the EU Migration and Asylum Pact, migration management, Bulgaria's integration into the Schengen Area, and border control.

Brunner added that there are also challenges, as well as achievements before Bulgaria and Greece. This is why he believes that the main duty of the two countries is to improve cooperation.

According to the commissioner, the main direction for future cooperation will be related to migration challenges and the implementation of the Migration and Asylum Pact and the successful methods for its management. First priority for our efforts is to get our own "European home" in order and to work on our cooperation with third countries, said Magnus Brunner.

During his visit to the Kulata-Promachonas border crossing, Brunner was accompanied by Interior Minister Daniel Mitov and Greek Deputy Minister for Migration and Asylum Sevi Voloudaki.
