site.btaPM Zhelyazkov: Vertical Gas Corridor Shows Allied Countries Ensure Transmission Diversification
During an official inspection of the progress of the project construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor in the region of Mikrevo village, Southwestern Bulgaria, on Thursday, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said that the corridor carries political symbolism, as it shows that countries that are partners and allies create opportunities to ensure gas transmission diversification.
Zhelyazkov said that the project gives the countries of Central and Southeastern Europe numerous opportunities that go beyond the traditional understanding of sovereignty, independence and competitiveness.
The Prime Minister said that it is political will that enables the deployment of large-scale investment projects, which can be finished decades into the future. He added that such projects will solve a major problem of the moment, as they provide the opportunity to ensure energy security and independence of both gas supply and transmission for decades to come.
Zhelyazkov stated: "Energy supply, cheap energy is not a matter of political debate and confrontation. It is a matter of better lives for our citizens and better business opportunities for our economies."
The Vertical Gas Corridor is a large-scale infrastructure project aimed at enhancing energy security and supply continuity, while providing access to diversified natural gas sources for Bulgaria and the South-East European region.
