Bulgartransgaz CEO: Vertical Gas Corridor Proves Countries Can Unite to Reach Energy Security

During an official inspection of the progress of the project construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor in the region of Mikrevo village, Southwestern Bulgaria, on Thursday, Bulgartransgaz CEO and former energy minister Vladimir Malinov said that while it is challenging to have gas transmission operators from seven countries unite around a common concept, the challenges can be overcome, when it comes to ensuring diversification of routes and a good market, as well as natural gas prices that benefit Bulgarian businesses.

Malinov said that the project enjoys international support because of its importance. He added that this joint project is important not only because of its regional value, but also because it is a symbol of the solidarity that all participating countries are showing towards Moldova and Ukraine in order to provide them with alternative LNG supplies after the suspension of Russian supplies.

The head of Bulgaria's natural gas transmission and storage system operator said that completing the project will provide energy security for the entire region.

The Vertical Gas Corridor is a large-scale infrastructure project aimed at enhancing energy security and supply continuity, while providing access to diversified natural gas sources for Bulgaria and the South-East European region.
