Diana Rusinova, chairwoman of the board of the European Centre for Transport Policies, said on Tuesday at a press conference on road safety at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia that on Monday last week the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov invited her through a text message to head the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA).
Rusinova also said that initially she did not take the proposal seriously through a text message, but then submitted a letter to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works accepting the responsibility.
"Everyone in Bulgaria is running away from responsibility. I am definitely not a person who will run away from responsibility and hide. Clearly there has been a miscommunication. I was expecting a serious conversation, to present an agenda, possibly the Board team," she said.
"The question is what comes next. Let it not appear that the minister has tried to malign me in the public eye, thinking that I will not take on this responsibility. I hope that is not the case. I stand before everyone and say that I accept that responsibility," she said.
Rusinova stressed that if she becomes chairperson of the RIA Board, she will invite all media to learn about the agency's activities.
