In an attempt to marginalize the far-right, the traditional parties in the European Union (EU) have not provided solutions to the problems of Europeans, Vice President Iliana Iotova said here on Tuesday, while analyzing the political situation in the EU at a forum about the Union's direction after the European Parliament elections.

The Vice President commented that all parties from the far-right should not be put under a common denominator, as they are still very different. The so-called traditional parties throughout the campaign avoided linking European with national policies in their desire to separate national issues from European ones, which was a very serious mistake, Iotova said. This vacuum and avoidance of linking the two systemic policies were taken advantage of politicians from the radical parties, whose narrative of national issues went through the European ones and more in a negative way, she explained.

"When a policy, even the most beautifully dressed one, does not serve the citizens, they simply reject it," Iotova said. According to her, this is why a lot of thinking should be done in this direction, because recently it has been observed that Brussels produces three times more legislative bills than can be implemented by the member states, which give up and say that these directives cannot be transposed. Another big problem, which Iliana Iotova outlined in her analysis, is that, in her words, Europe has become a Europe of restrictions, of strict compliance with rules to perfection and lack of creativity.

She said that all the energy of the European institutions goes into following some rules, writing new rules and new financial disciplines, while at the same time there is a lack of investment in creation, in creativity, and it is obvious to the naked eye that other continents are long ahead.
