President Radev to Honour Pilots on Aviation and Cosmonautics Day

Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev will award Bulgarian pilots for their outstanding performances and participate in the celebration of International Aviation and Cosmonautics Day on April 12, the Head of State's press office said.

At the Presidency building, Rumen Radev will award the President’s Badge of Honour to Lieutenant General (retired) Stefan Popov, Major General (retired) Evgeni Manev, Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Dinko Dinkov and Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Petar Krastev.

Later in the day, Radev will welcome guests to an event at Sofia's Central Military Club on the occasion of the celebration of International Aviation and Cosmonautics Day and the 45th anniversary of the space flight of the first Bulgarian cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov. The event is organised by the Bulgarian Air Force, the Space Research and Technology Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Bulgarian Air Force Foundation.

April 10, 2024 marked the 45th anniversary of the space flight of the first Bulgarian cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov.
