The Ukrainian embassy in Sofia expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for the assistance to temporarily displaced people from Ukraine, many of whom are children, the Embassy said Thursday.
On the occasion of the International Children's Day, the Embassy of Ukraine wishes all children in Bulgaria a sunny, peaceful and carefree childhood, countless pleasant moments and events, harmony and family comfort with their parents and grandparents. Children need love and care not only on a holiday, these are the essential components needed to form a healthy environment for strong and freedom-loving individuals, the Embassy said, pointing out that peaceful skies and security in Europe's new geopolitical realities assume particular value.
The Ukrainian people and Ukrainian children, with all their goodwill towards friends and neighbours, know best what it is to lose their peaceful day-to-day life and wish most of all that no one else should experience the horrors of modern warfare, the Ukrainian Embassy noted.
The common goal of the international community is to restore peace and security in Europe, to restore the rule of law, to stop barbaric practices in 21st century and together to build a stable foundation for the future generations, the statement said.
For 15 months, young Ukrainians have been robbed of the opportunity to enjoy life, to explore, to learn, to play, to sleep peacefully at night, the Embassy said. According to their data, 484 children have died and 1,472 have been injured. The figures are not definitive given the lack of access to information in the occupied territories, the Embassy added.
