Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov received the newly appointed Cuban Ambassador in Sofia Marieta Garcia Jordan here on Monday. The chief Bulgarian diplomat welcomed the envoy and wished her success in her highly responsible mission.
In the course of this first conversation between the two, an emphasis was laid on the traditionally good ties between Bulgaria and Cuba and the friendship between the two peoples.
The sides reviewed bilateral relations, highlighting the shared desire to invigorate trade and economic links in various areas of mutual interest, among which Garcia listed mining, biotechnologies and information technology. She further stressed that Cubans remember the high quality of Bulgarian products and the Bulgarian specialists who worked in Cuba and that Bulgaria could take advantage of this fact.
In the context of the forthcoming Summit between the EU and the Community of Latin America and Caribbean states (CELAC) on July 17-18, 2023, the sides notes the role of cooperation between the two regions as an additional source of opportunities for deeper multilateral and bilateral interaction.
Ambassador Marieta Garcia Jordan presented her credentials to President Rumen Radev on April 7, 2023.
