site.btaUPDATED Interior Ministry: Prosecutor General Geshev's Motorcade Was Involved in Accident

The Interior Ministry reported an incident took place with the motorcade of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev on Monday.

Interior Ministry's Secretary General, Chief Commissioner Petar Todorov told reporters in Burgas, on the Black Sea, that the incident took place near Samokov, South Western Bulgaria, around 11:45 a.m. There were no casualties.

While Todorov declined to state what caused the incident, he did say that a task force has been established to address the case. The institutions currently investigating the circumstances around the incident include General Directorate National Police, the State Agency for National Security, the National Service for Protection, General Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and the Interior Ministry.

Caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev will hold a meeting at the Council of Ministers to discuss the case with caretaker Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev and representatives of the prosecution service on Tuesday. Further action will be taken accordingly, after the available information gets summarized and processed.
