Nearly 1,400 residents of the Moldovan town of Taraclia received bank cards with BGN 100 (RON 1,000) of financial aid provided by Bulgaria for the Bulgarians in Moldova.

The financial assistance was handed over to the residents of the town during a meeting with Taraclia District Chair Ivan Paslar and head of the organization "Bulgarian Municipality of the Republic of Moldova" Georgi Barbarov, which was also attended by regional director of Moldindconbank Dimitru Siumbeli. People were informed about the procedure for receiving the money and by whom it was provided.

"I am very pleased, of course. With this help we will welcome Easter like everybody else. The children will be very happy," a single mother of three children told BTA.

Paslar urged attendees with Bulgarian citizenship to participate in the Bulgarian parliamentary elections on April 2 and Barbarov told them about the plans of his organization.

A total of 5,000 families will receive the grant aid, including 3,500 families who live in the settlements of the Taraclia region and 1,500 families from villages with a Bulgarian population in southern Moldova, as well as in Transnistria and the city of Balti, according to the information of the regional administration. Taraclia regional authorities have been distributing the one-off aid to people for a month now.
