The Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) has sent over 24 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Syria in the wake of the February 6 earthquake, the BRC said. The aid carried by four trucks comprises donations by Bulgarian individuals and companies collected during a national campaign.
Nearly 33 tonnes of donations also collected during the national campaign organized by the Bulgarian Red Cross will be flown to Beirut on March 16. The cargo will be unloaded by the Lebanese Red Cross and will be transported by a humanitarian convoy to Syria where the Syrian Arab Red Crescent will take over. It has access to all the quake-hit areas and will deliver the Bulgarian aid to those in need of it.
So far the BRC has sent Turkiye and Syria material donations worth nearly EUR 310,000 from its emergency reserve, as well as 224 boxes of donations to Turkiye.
