Tuesday's bomb threats sent to schools and kindergartens in settlements across the country, including Kardzhali, were sent from a website in Italy, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev told reporters. According to him, there was a suspiciously large number of threats, so they were likely coordinated.

“We will now seek out those behind these threats,” said Demerdzhiev, adding that during his previous term, when he worked within the Interior Ministry, a protocol for action had already been established, which is why the Ministry does not expect chaos or panic in response to the bomb threats at educational institutions.

Minister Demerdzhiev was in Kardzhali for the opening of the energy-renovated fire department buildings in the regional city. Among those present were Deputy Minister Emil Ganchev, Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov, Regional Governor Biser Nikolov, his deputy Georgi Yanev, Kardzhali Mayor Erol Mumun, Chernoochene Mayor Aydjan Ahmed, and directors of various organizations with which the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection partners.
