Friday’s sitting of the National Assembly opened with declarations from the parliamentary groups of BSP–United Left, Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria (CC–DB), and Vazrazhdane.
The BSP–United Left declaration was on the occasion of Bulgaria’s national day, celebrated on March 3. “As long as Bulgaria exists, we will celebrate March 3,” Floor Leader Nataliya Kiselova said.
CC–DB Co-Floor Leader Nikolay Denkov delivered a declaration regarding a recent ruling by the Sofia Regional Court, which found that the 24-hour detention of Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev on July 8, 2025 — followed by five months in custody — had been unlawful.
Vazrazhdane’s declaration referred to an article in a German publication claiming that Bulgaria had been offered an exemption from its obligations under the EU’s solidarity mechanism for receiving migrants.
The parliamentary agenda includes a bill to ratify an agreement between Bulgaria's Government and UNESCO on designating the Centre for Underwater Archaeology as a UNESCO Category 2 Institute under the name Underwater Heritage Institute.
The first regular Question Time with the caretaker government is also on Friday's agenda. During the plenary sitting, MPs’ questions will be answered by caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov, Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski, Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky, Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov, Health Minister Michail Okoliyski, Environment and Water Minister Julian Popov, and Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev.
