The caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, formally assumed leadership of the ministry from Grozdan Karadjov on Thursday. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ismailov said he would work to increase public trust in the institution and accelerate work at all levels.

"Ensuring the conduct of fair and transparent elections is a core commitment of the government and a key task for us in the months ahead," Ismailov said. He added that a comprehensive review of the Ministry's activities would be carried out with a view to speeding up its work. "I will work to achieve a fair and transparent administration with high capacity, serving the interests of citizens in the spending of public funds," Ismailov said.

For his part, Karadjov said he was handing over a well-organized system and key reforms already under way, expressing hope that the new leadership would continue work on them.
