Bulgaria's Border Police have detained a citizen of the Republic of North Macedonia caught with EUR 89,000 in hidden cash, the police press service said.

The incident occurred at the Gyueshevo border checkpoint on August 29, as the 40-year-old woman attempted to leave Bulgaria in a passenger car. Border police officers requested a joint inspection with customs officials, during which the concealed cash was discovered taped to her body.

Summary proceedings have been initiated, and the woman was brought as a defendant in the case. The investigation is ongoing.
