For the first time Bulgarian hotels are included in the tourist catalogues of the largest Austrian insurance companies, Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism (BUBSPA) Ambassador Meglena Plugchieva said here Tuesday. She explained that it was the result of an impressive presentation of Bulgaria in March 2024 as a destination for year-round health tourism at a major exhibition in Vienna.

The Bulgarian hotels picked by two leading insurance companies in Austria, are the Grifid hotels and some in the Albena resort, which offer health programmes.

The hotels have already had visitors from Austria and it is important now to get feedback at the end of the season: what interest they have attracted, how the Austrian guests liked their stay, said Dr. Plugchieva. She said that talks are yet to be held with the parent organization of which the Austrian insurance companies are part.

"You know very well that when prestigious, safe and reputed insurance companies have added Bulgarian products, hotels, in their catalogues, it has a snowball effect and other companies seek to do business with the same hotels and advertise them," said Plugchieva.

She took part in the 11th annual congress of BUBSPA, which started Monday in Burgas. On the second day of the forum, she spoke on the topic of Positioning Bulgaria as a destination for quality health tourism in the markets of Austria and Norway
