Stanislav Grozdanov, expert at the International Educational Activities and Cooperation Department of the Neofit Rilski South–West University, said here on Tuesday that in the last 15 years, the university has worked on over 15 cross-border projects. He was speaking at the 5th Bulgaria-Greece cross-border conference, held as part of BTA's project "Europe in the Balkans: A Common Future". The conference was held simultaneously in Thessaloniki and Blagoevgrad.

Among the successful projects implemented by South-West University is a project promoting the development of youth mobility. The project helps the university upgrade their sports installations and build a big sports hall with three tennis courts, Grozdanov said. Another successful project is related to water and energy savings, allowing the university to maintain its huge green areas with the use of a new irrigation system.

Grozdanov also mentioned a project for building a link between the university and businesses for social entrepreneurship purposes. Other projects of the university include one for using innovative instruments to protect and popularize cultural heritage in the cross-border region, and a project aimed at protecting, popularizing, and developing mineral springs in selected areas.

In the expert's words, a lot of time, efforts, and expert opinions have been invested in these projects. The team have managed to elaborate four project concepts together with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and other municipalities from the cross-border region. The projects would make the campus more accessible, including for disadvantaged people, Grozdanov said.
