The municipalities of Pernik and Kocani, which are almost immediate neighbours on both sides of Bulgaria's border with North Macedonia, signed a memorandum of cooperation on Saturday. The signing took place during the 30th Surva International Festival of Masquerade Games in Pernik (January 26-28), the municipal administration of Pernik reported. Mayors Stanislav Vladimirov of Pernik and Ljupco Papazov of Kocani affixed their signatures to the memorandum.

The sides were adamant that the friendly relations and the cultural exchange between the two towns, which picked up three years ago, have been successful. Acts from Pernik have enriched the cultural programme of the Days of Kocani Rice, and now a folk group from Kocani has entered for the Surva Festival in Pernik, Papazov said. He added that good bilateral cultural relations have helped to promote cooperation in other domains.

According to Vladimirov, cooperation between Pernik and Kocani will continue not only through the exchange of delegations and folk groups but also by sharing ideas and good practices.
