Three-quarters of Romanians (74.5%) believe that vaccinating children against flu can prevent the disease, show the results of a new survey by the INSCOP polling agency, published online.

When asked if they would agree to their children being vaccinated against flu at kindergarten, school or college, 52.4% of respondents (44.3% of parents and 63.2% of grandparents) chose "definitely yes", while 23.3% (26% of parents and 19.8% of grandparents) chose "probably yes".

Nearly 22% do not support the idea. A total of 2.9% said they did not know, and another 0.2% did not respond.

"The study tracks how flu vaccination is perceived, the aspects that cause reluctance, and expectations of the authorities and the healthcare system. The results aim to contribute to the necessary debate on prevention and priorities in the field of children's health, given that a lack of information, as well as mistrust fuelled by misinformation, affects the ability of the authorities to implement effective health policies," commented Remus Stefureac, director of the polling agency.

The survey included 1,006 people and was conducted by INSCOP at the request of the Association of Private Schools. Data was collected between December 5 and 23, 2025.

This comes at a time when, according to local media reports, Romania is experiencing a 24.5% increase in flu cases compared to the same period last year.
