National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova commented in Pernik on the topic of the upcoming rotation of the leadership post in Parliament, the legislature’s press office reported on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters in Pernik, Kiselova said she was a representative of one of the parties that had decided to take part in the governance of the country. She explained that any issues arising subsequently were first discussed by the collective bodies of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), then by BSP – United Left’s coalition council, and finally by the Joint Governance Council. She added that whatever decisions were made by those bodies would be implemented accordingly.
Asked whether she would remain an MP if she no longer served as National Assembly Chair, Kiselova said she saw no reason not to continue as a member of Parliament.
She added that she had been given two political assignments by her party — the first, to ensure that no parliamentary elections were held until 2024, a goal she said had been achieved with her election as National Assembly Chair; and the second, from the voters in Sofia’s 23rd constituency, was to avoid new elections this year as well.
Kiselova’s visit to Pernik was on the occasion of the award ceremony for the winners of the U-20 National Chess Tournament for Youths and Girls.
