It is important to preserve the memory of the glorious moments of our history and the names of the brave soldiers who fought in the wars for the unification of the homeland, said National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova here on Sunday, Parliament's press service reported. She laid flowers at the monument of General Stefan Toshev, a commander during the First World War.

This October marks 101 years since Toshev’s death. From September 1915 to December 1916, he commanded Bulgaria’s Third Army on the Dobrudzha Front, leading the successful assault and capture of the Tutrakan Fortress in September 1916. Toshev was also the author of several books.

During her visit, Kiselova met with the town’s Mayor and residents, who presented her with a petition of 466 signatures in support of rehabilitating the national road network between General Toshevo and the Kardam border checkpoint on the Romanian border. Citizens also called for a roundabout on the General Toshevo–Balchik road at its junction with the Dobrich–Malina route and stressed that fertile Dobrudzha farmland should not be used for wind power projects.

Kiselova noted that the problems of small municipalities should not be overlooked and that living and working conditions in smaller settlements must be improved.

Earlier in the day, she also visited Balchik, where she said that the main priority for the current parliamentary session is the adoption of the 2026 state budget.
