The fifth vote of no confidence in the Zhelyazkov Cabinet will be held on Thursday afternoon at 4:45 p.m. in accordance with the parliamentary rules, which stipulate that the vote should take place 24 hours after the debates. The Constitution stipulates that the motion would get adopted if more than half of all members of parliament voted in favour of it.
The debates over the motion lasted more than 7 hours on Wednesday.
The draft decision on a vote of no confidence in the Council of Ministers led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov was submitted to the National Assembly on September 12 with the signatures of 59 MPs from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, MECh, and the Alliance for Right and Freedoms. At the time, Vazrazhdane announced that they were seeking support for a sixth vote, to be submitted by them, due to the water shortage in the country.
Parliament's Thursday agenda also includes the second reading of amendments to the Railway Transport Act and the Postal Services Act.
The amendments to the Railway Transport Act are related to the European Commission's reasoned opinion of April 19, 2023, on infringement proceedings against Bulgaria for failing to ensure the correct transposition of part of a European Parliament directive on the opening of the market for domestic rail passenger transport services and the management of railway infrastructure.
