Government Appoints Chair and Members of Interdepartmental Council for Screening of Foreign Direct Investments

The Council of Ministers approved the appointment of a chairperson and members of an Interdepartmental Council for Screening of Foreign Direct Investments, Cabinet's press service reported here on Wednesday.

The Council was established with the Government under Article 27, paragraph 1 of the Bulgarian Investment Promotion Act as a permanent collective body that reviews applications for foreign direct investment and either grants or refuses authorization for such investment.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth has been appointed chairperson of the council, with the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth as deputy chairperson. The members include representatives of the Ministries of Defence, Interior, Finance, Health, Foreign Affairs, Economy and Industry, Transport and Communications, Electronic Governance, and Energy, as well as the State Agency for National Security, the State Intelligence Agency, the Commission for Protection of Competition, the Financial Supervision Commission, the Communications Regulation Commission, and the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission.
