site.btaUPDATED GERB Leader Borissov: No-Confidence Vote Proved Coalition between Continue the Change, Vazrazhdane and Pro-Russian Parties

Contrary to claims of failure, the no-confidence vote was “very successful,” according to GERB leader Boyko Borissov. Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Friday following the unsuccessful fourth attempt by Velichie, Vazrazhdane, and MECh to oust the Zhelyazkov cabinet, Borissov commented: "What I have said all along is now a fact - Continue the Change, Vazrazhdane, and the pro-Russian parties are aligned.”
He added that “another lie has been unmasked” and that these types of votes can continue “for as long as they like.”
Borissov also congratulated Bulgarians on the country’s upgraded credit rating.
International rating agencies S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings both raised Bulgaria’s long-term foreign currency credit rating to “BBB+” with a stable outlook - marking the highest level within the upper-medium investment-grade category. According to the Ministry of Finance, the upgrade comes as a direct result of the EU Council’s official decision to allow Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone starting January 1, 2026.
Borissov went on to congratulate the Interior Ministry on disrupting an illegal cigarette factory on Thursday. “The fight against contraband is visible,” he commented.
“This week has been successful for Bulgaria thanks to GERB,” he said. Discussing the news about law enforcers entering the home of Blagomir Kotsev, Mayor of the seaside city of Varna, Borissov said: “I don’t like such things, and I disapprove.” Recalling a March 2022 raid into his own home, Borissov said that back at the time, 40 law enforcers entered his place at a time when his daughter was pregnant.
“Such things should be done far more wisely,” he said, demanding that those who did it must be held liable.
The GERB leader thanked the European People’s Party and all political groups in the European Parliament which rejected a no-confidence motion against the European Commission. He thanked for the European Parliament vote on the North Macedonia progress report and for the final confirmation of Bulgaria’s accession to the euro area as of January 1, 2026. “Everyone envies Bulgaria for what we did,” Borissov said.
