Mountain hiking conditions are good, but weather shifts are expected in the afternoon, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) with the Bulgarian Red Cross told BTA on Monday. There is scattered cloud cover and light wind in the higher parts.
An elderly woman broke her arm on Sunday in the area of The Seven Rila Lakes near The Fish Lake, the MRS said. An MRS team from Dupnitsa provided first aid, after which she was transported by air ambulance to a hospital.
In the mountains, cumulonimbus cloud formation is expected, and in the afternoon many areas in the massifs of Western and Central Bulgaria will see short but locally intense rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology reported. Hail is also possible. A moderate to temporarily strong north-northwesterly wind is expected. Highs: 20C at 1,200 metres, 14C at 2,000 metres.
