The Bulgarian Cultural Society in Berisso, a city in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina, celebrated a significant milestone this year: 70 years since its establishment in 1955. Founded by descendants of Bulgarian immigrants who arrived in Argentina during the early 20th century, the society has played a vital role in preserving Bulgarian culture and identity abroad.
Over the past seven decades, the society has served as a cultural hub for the Bulgarian community in Berisso, offering language courses, organizing traditional celebrations, and fostering connections among compatriots. It stands as a living bridge between Argentina and Bulgaria, helping newer generations understand and embrace their roots.
“The society is much more than just a cultural organization,” representatives of the society told BTA. “It is a place where the Bulgarian spirit is kept alive through music, dance, language, and shared history. We are proud of our legacy and committed to passing it on.”
August 16 festivities marking the 70th anniversary included traditional music, folk dances, and food.
