The meeting in Alaska restores dialogue and hope for peace for everyone, President Rumen Radev told reporters when asked about the Friday meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and the future of the war in Ukraine. Radev was speaking in the Petrova niva area (Southeast Bulgaria), where he will participate in the commemoration of the 122nd anniversary of the Ilinden–Preobrazhenie Uprising.

The celebration will be held under the patronage of the head of State, the President's press office said.

“Here we are about to witness the metamorphosis, I suppose, of all those, including the Bulgarian Government members, who are mired in the naive stubbornness of imposing peace by force, without any regard for reality,” the head of State said. “I have long argued that this approach only leads to more destruction in Ukraine, more casualties, and even greater loss of territory,” he argued.
