site.btaBulgaria Unemployment at 3.3% in April 2025, Hits Record Low in 18 Years of EU Membership
At 3.3%, unemployment in Bulgaria in April 2025 hit the lowest level since the country joined the European Union in 2007, according to data from the Statistical Office of the European Commission (Eurostat).
It was also one of the lowest in the EU in April 2025. Eurostat reported that the lowest unemployment rates in the bloc in that month were reported in Czechia and Malta (2.7% each), Bulgaria and Poland (3.3% each) and Germany (3.6%). The highest levels were in Spain (10.9%), Finland (9.1%) and Sweden (8.5%). The report is based on seasonally adjusted data.
Across the EU, unemployment in April 2025 was 5.9%, unchanged from March 2025 and going down from 6.0% in April 2024, Eurostat said. The euro area had 6.2% unemployment in April 2025, compared with 6.3% in March 2025 and 6.4% in April 2024.
A total of 12,902,000 people in the EU, including 10,680,000 in the euro area, were jobless in April 2025.
