Bulgaria's Embassy in Japan held a Bulgaria Fair at Yokohama English Garden on April 28-29 for the third year in a row, the Embassy said on its Facebook page.
The Bulgaria Fair was held in the city of Yokohama's rose garden owned by Television Kanagawa. The garden features over 1,800 roses of 1,300 varieties from many countries and regions. In 2023, a Damascena rose donated by the Bulgarian Embassy was planted in the garden, the Embassy said.
The fair aims to present Bulgaria as an attractive tourist destination with ancient culture and traditions and to promote traditional Bulgarian products available on the Japanese market.
On April 29, Ambassador Marieta Arabadjieva and Embassy staff took part in the festival, which was attended by Television Kanagawa President Yoshikazu Kumagai.
The event programme included performances of Bulgarian folk dances by the KOGA Group, a Bulgarian embroidery workshop led by Iren Yamami, and a talk about Bulgaria given by the Embassy's First Secretary, Petar Nikolaev.
"The Botanical Garden shop sold Bulgarian wine, rakiya, tea, rose jam, rose water, honey and spices, as well as ice cream made with rose jam. For the second consecutive year, a Bulgarian bento lunch box featuring traditional Bulgarian dishes was also offered," the Embassy said.
