site.btaPM Meets with Representatives of Jewish Community in Bulgaria on Occasion of Pesach

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov held a meeting with representatives of the Jewish community in Bulgaria on the occasion of the religious holiday Pesach (Crossover), the Government Information Service said on Tuesday. The newly elected Chair of the Shalom Organization of Jews in Bulgaria, Dr. Alina Levi, and the head of the NEGEV Organization of Friends of Israel in Bulgaria, Prof. Alexander Oscar, presented the symbols of Pesach - unleavened bread and kosher wine - to the Bulgarian Prime Minister. 

Prime Minister Zhelyazkov thanked for the gesture and stressed that such meetings are an expression of the common democratic values shared. The representatives of the Jewish community thanked the Prime Minister for his friendly attitude towards the community.

The meeting was also attended by Central Israeli Spiritual Council Chairman Maxim Delchev, Zionist Federation of Bulgaria Chairman Nikolay Galabov, and the Director of the Office of the American Jewish Committee for Bulgaria, Viktor Melamed.
