Turkiye’s Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced Thursday on his X account that industrial areas will be established in four of the provinces struck by the deadly twin earthquakes in early February.

He presented the plans for the new industrial zones in the southeastern areas of the country.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has already signed a decision paving the way for the creation of industrial zones covering a total area of 2,826 hectares.

“The industrial zones will make a significant contribution to the development process not only of the region, but also of the entire country. Many new jobs will be created for thousands of our citizens,” Kacır added.

Adıyaman will utilize 49 hectares of land for its industrial zone, Kahramanmaraş's Dulkadiroğlu district - over 900 hectares, the city's Pazarcık district - 11 hectares, Malatya - 193 hectares, Şanlıurfa - 295 hectares.

The devastating earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.6 and 7.7, which struck southeastern Turkiye on February 6, claimed over 50,000 lives. Huge numbers of buildings were demolished, and millions of people were left homeless and jobless.
