"We observed the skills not only of the Air Force units, but also of the participants from the Ground Forces, the Navy and the Joint Special Operations Command", said Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov Thursday after the tactical exercise with experimental and joint combat firing of the air defence formations of the Bulgarian Army and the air formations of the Air Force with international participation "Shabla - 2023" (TUBS "Shabla - 2023") held at the Air Force Ground Test Range - Shabla. "This is a complex exercise and I am very pleased with the results", Eftimov said.
Responding to a journalist's question about the possibilities of providing additional military assistance from Bulgaria to Ukraine, Admiral Eftimov noted that the military leadership has presented an objective and impartial analysis of the weapons, equipment and ammunition at our disposal, as well as the prospects for their maintenance and development. "We have most responsibly implemented the decision of the previous National Assembly, in line with the political ambition and capabilities at this stage," he stressed. The defence chief was adamant that such a decision on state property, such as the arms, equipment and ammunition of the Republic of Bulgaria, was not an entirely military act. "Political and diplomatic effect is sought, this is an element of the policy of the whole state, so we should let the politicians decide," Admiral Eftimov concluded.
