At a ceremony in Sofia's Museum of Sport on Friday, Bulgarian pupils were awarded within the 2nd International School Competition for Short Film in Spanish on the topic of reducing inequalities through sport. The awards were conferred by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Petar Bouchkov, Spanish Ambassador to Bulgaria Alejandro Polanco, and Spanish LaLiga representative Jesus Pizarro, the Spanish Embassy said in a press release.

The competition is organized by the Education department of the Spanish Embassy in Bulgaria in cooperation with LaLiga. It is aimed at promoting creativity, popularizing audiovisual art, seeking new points of view, stimulating pupils' spoken expression in Spanish as well as nonverbal communication through body language, and increasing their knowledge of the inequalities in society and the ways to limit those through sport and sport-related values.

Pupils from schools across Bulgaria submitted short films for the competition that were evaluated by a jury. The films had to tell a short story in several scenes reasoning on an existing inequality and how it can be reduced through sport and values, such as strive for personal development, integration, respect for the individual, tolerance, observation of the rules, perseverance, team work, self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, sincerity, and loyalty.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Youth and Sports welcomes the competition as an initiative contributing to integration and the reduction of inequalities through sport.
