"Bulgaria, and in particular the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ), is fully cooperating with the transport of container homes to accommodate people left homeless after the earthquakes in Turkiye," Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Communications Minister Hristo Aleksiev told Turkish Ambassador in Sofia Aylin Sekizkok when the two met here on Wednesday. At the first stage, intermodal transport will be used to deliver 70-80 such accommodation.
Sekizkok expressed profound gratitude to the Bulgarian State, volunteers and donors for empathizing with the victims of the natural disaster and for the assistance provided during the last 15 days.
Aleksiev also said that new lanes for refrigerated trucks are about to be put into operation at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing. They will further help ease the passage of food products. "Our main priority is to cut the transit time of goods through the border crossing," the Deputy PM assured the diplomat. He hopes that a memorandum on a new railway border crossing between Yambol and Edirne will be signed in the near future.
