site.btaBulgaria Aims to Develop Year-Round Tourism, Tourism Minister Says
Bulgaria seeks to develop tourism throughout all four seasons, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov said at the opening of the first Travel Fest tourism exhibition on Saturday. The event, organized by TravelNews.bg under the patronage of Sofia Municipality and the Tourism Ministry, brings together nearly 40 exhibitors, including tour operators, hotels, guest houses, wineries, food and beverage producers, museums and cultural organizations.
Dimitrov said that such events are important and will continue to receive support because they provide an opportunity for the tourism industry to meet and exchange ideas. He noted that the exhibition is backed by both central and local authorities and serves as a positive example of institutional cooperation.
Speaking to journalists, the minister said Bulgaria's international visibility has increased significantly following Eurovision. Bulgarian tourists account for more than 60% of all registered visitors and remain a key market, he added.
Dimitrov said more than 1,000 journalists are expected to visit Bulgaria in 2027. The Tourism Ministry plans to organize a complementary programme showcasing the country's natural and cultural attractions to promote Bulgaria internationally.
Commenting on the summer season, the minister said it had started cautiously but expectations remained high. He forecast tourism performance in 2026 to be similar to that recorded in 2025.
