Bulgaria recorded 80,884 crimes in 2025, including 70,075 offences against individuals and property and 10,809 economic crimes, according to a written reply by Interior Minister Emil Dechev to a question from Ivaylo Shotev MP of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria.
The data show a 4% decrease in recorded crimes compared with 2023 and a 6% decline compared with 2024. At the same time, the crime detection rate increased by 1.1 percentage points compared with 2023 and by 3.9 pp compared with 2024. Authorities solved a total of 41,059 crimes.
Statistics indicate declines in murders, robberies, thefts and offences involving motor vehicles, while drug-related crimes and offences committed in conditions of domestic violence increased.
According to Dechev, the trend in recorded crime reflects the results of systematic and targeted measures implemented by the Interior Ministry to reduce offences against individuals and property. These include effective prevention, improved work organization, and cooperation with other state institutions and local authorities, he said.
