Voting machines are largely operating normally, caretaker Interior Minister Emil Dechev said on Sunday on Facebook.
Malfunctions have been reported in less than 1% of all devices, and not all of them need to be withdrawn from the voting process, he added. According to the Electronic Governance Ministry, 99.5% of the machines are operating without issues, while work is ongoing on the remaining ones and they are being brought back to election mode in a timely manner.
According to Dechev, as of 12:30 p.m. on election day there were reports concerning 74 machines, which is below 1%, specifically 0.5%. The signals are being addressed promptly by technicians of the contractor of the Central Election Commission Ciela Norma and the machine voting process is proceeding normally. So far, there have been no reports of software problems with the machines, Dechev also said.
He added that the behaviour of the machines since the start of election day is almost identical to that observed during the previous parliamentary elections in October 2024.
